General numbers
There are currently an estimated 4000 PowerDNS non-trivial implementations active on the internet, which serve around 8 to 10 million zones in total and a larger number of domains. PowerDNS was designed and built for large-scale deployments, and is therefor used by some of the largest registars in the world. Tests for the top level domain .EU have shown that PowerDNS can handle over 50.000 queries/second on a single server, running on simple hardware.

This registry is run by Saipan DataCom, Inc. and is dedicated to serving the island community in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

1&1 is the largest registrar in Germany, and currently deploys over 8 million domains with 95 million records, all of them on PowerDNS nameservers with a custom developed backend.
